Pontypool Grain Elevator

There is a wooden grain elevator in the hamlet of Pontypool, Ontario. This freestanding elevator was built in 1918 to replace a 1894 structure. It is last of its type remaining in Ontario and joins 9 others in the Country. The structure was owned by Canadian Pacific Railway and was purchased by the City of Kawartha Lakes on behalf of the Manvers Township Historical Society who has restored the building and hope in the future to have this building serve as a tourist information centre.

The building was used originally to store grains from local farmers that were later shipped by rail to Toronto and Montreal

The building was designated by the City as a historical building on September 16, 2017.
