Lifford

Lifford is located on the 10th concession of Manvers east of the present day Hwy 35. The community was established with the following names being amid the first settlers – Vance, Grandy, Staples, Wilson, Preston, Lang and Timms.

Blacksmith, school teacher, merchant, post master, shoemaker, tavern keeper, coroner, doctor, sawyer were among the occupations listed in early census documents.

St. Mary’s Church and cemetery and the school house are the only evidence of this community in present day.
