Mount Horeb

Mount Horeb was a small village located on the boundary of Manvers and Ops and was named as it was located at the top of a high hill with a magnificent view. Within the Village there were two hotels, two stores, Post Office, three carpentry shops, church, cemetery and two blacksmith shops. Early family names in this area included Skuce, Reynolds, Southam, Rea, Deyell, Leigh, Anderson, Beamish, Fleming, Green, Henwood, Herbert, Hickson, Howe, Kent, Lees, Lindsay, Magahay, McGibbon, Moore, Murphy, Oliver, Pollard and Spiers.
