Pontypool is located just east of Hwy 35 at the 3rd Concession of Manvers and was one of the last communities to be established. The community grew once a railway station was established in the 1890’s. Pontypool became a popular spot for the Jewish faith to visit from Toronto for vacation in the mid 1900’s.
Names from the past include – Argue, Fallis, Benson, Leigh, Jennings, Bowin, Bradley, Cain, Corbett, Farrow, Graham, Galloway, Henderson, Porter, Payne, Todd, Walker, Wright, Wilson, and Ridge
Sawmills, general stores, post office, farmer were among the occupations listed in the early census.
Today it is home of the last free standing grain elevator managed by this Historical Society. There are a few remaining businesses left to service the population.
